    Site 30 is a multiphase site whose last phase was probably the last major operation smelting camp in Timna and one of its major smelting camps (Rothenberg 1980 called it one of the largest in the Aravah, but this is not accurate). It extends to an approximate area of 5000 sqm and lies below a prominent hill with a long, narrow knife shaped summit. It is located a few hundred meters from the “Egypt

    ian sanctuary,” Site 200. The site is surrounded by a semi-circular wall with a north-facing gateway approximately in its middle. The southern side of the site is protected by the natural steep slopes of the hill, up which the wall climbs approximately 20 m before it abuts the cliffs. Inside the wall, the site hosts around 10 semi-circular to rectangular structures (between 5 m diameter or 10x3 m)
